Preventive Aging Centers, Inc.

In 1992, along with Grace Powers Monaco, a Washington, D.C., Federal Judge at the time and one of the organizers of the Candlelighters Association, Tim Cassidy organized Preventive Aging Centers, Inc., a non-profit provider of senior programming and intergenerational Programs. Tim was relatively new to the nursing home business at that time when he realized that reimbursement under Medicaid screens was far insufficient to address much-needed activities for residents.

He sought to provide an extensive activities program that engaged residents and embraced the mind, body, and soul. In addition, our team wanted to involve the community and increase the number of volunteers at our facility. Long before Tim became a born-again Christian, he understood the principle that if you give to the community, the community will give back to you.

Preventive Aging Centers have sponsored and/or organized dozens of programs over the past 30 years in hundreds of locations, including the Preschool Senior Companion Program, senior and youth mentoring programs, lifelong learning programs on changes in Medicare, and others.
