Medical Wellness Centers
Medical Wellness Centers provide services that allow residents to stay in the community versus relocating to an Assisted Living facility or a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). Tim Cassidy of Senior Consulting, LLC is a former operator and manager in Senior Housing and long-term care for 15 years ending in 2003. During Tim’s time in these roles, it became clear that there were not enough programs to address the emotional and mental needs of these residents, as caregiving focused on their physical shortcomings. To find creative and worthy ways to address the needs of seniors, Preventive Aging Centers was organized in 1993. In the years thereafter, as we developed the organization, Tim’s efforts continued to grow and shift, including a passion for medical wellness within all different kinds of senior housing.
One of the results of our efforts was work in 2002, where we were engaged by multiple housing authorities of older low-income multifamily buildings in the city of Cleveland that had received grants from the Cleveland Foundation. We made various recommendations and were able to establish unique programming within these communities that had aged in place with so many seniors. This included wellness programming and conducting an RFQ/RFP so a Home Health Agency could conduct no-cost screenings and, in many cases, provide Medicare-reimbursed care to keep low-income residents in their homes.
As senior needs have evolved and technology plays a bigger part in alternative care, our affiliated company has branded Enhanced Active Living, which includes expanded services and care. These services, including medical screenings and prevention, are available for residents but also open to the public in some cases.
To be eligible for potential Medicare reimbursement for much of the care that can be provided to residents, all the project’s ownership and or its partnership RFQ/RFP to select either a home health agency (HHA) or a hospital-based outpatient department. Senior Consulting conducts this type of process to select an arm’s length provider that will agree to conduct screenings of residents at no cost and a multitude of healthcare screenings and educational programs for residents in the local community as part of their selection to potentially lease space within a completed project.
